facing the music, wippet wednesday

#WIPpet Wednesday – January 09, 2019

Hello and welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a blog hop wherein writers share an excerpt from their current WIP that somehow relates to the date.  To join in, simply click the blue linky up there to the right.

Hello and happy new year!

I’m not writing at the moment but revising. I’ve decided to try revising as I go, but I’ve begun the year by going through what I already had. In some cases, I’m doing a more thorough job (like writing out a character who had potential but turned out to be a hanger-on), but in other places it’s just tidying up or making notes for later. I’m actually itching to get back to the writing, since I haven’t actually written any Alex Casyl for a long time and I miss him. He’s going to be appearing in the chapter I left off at, so I’m looking forward to that.

For my first WIPpet with the new Facing the Music WIP, I have added the date and month together and have 10 sentences to share with you. After being branded as a Mind Magician and left to fend for herself, Ria meets a kind soul in a village on her way back to the city.

“Why are you helping me? No one else in the village want to talk to me.”

“Because I have the same mark on the back of my neck. I have been exactly where you are now.” He finished rubbing in the ointment and took his hands away for a moment.

“What is your ability?”

“When I look at a person, I can see the sins they’ve committed. The things they feel guilty about. Didn’t make me popular.”

“Apparently seeing the future isn’t popular, either.”

Have a great week everyone! I’ll catch up with you all soon!

  1. Yeah, seeing someone’s past sins… that would not make one many friends. Ria’s skill seems a BIT less challenging at least in the sense people don’t have to feel guilty… but there’s bound to be a lot of “I would never allow myself to end up like that” angst.
