#WIPpet Wednesday – December 12, 2018

Hello and welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a blog hop wherein writers share an excerpt from their current WIP that somehow relates to the date.  To join in, simply click the blue linky up there to the right.

I’m posting two weeks in a row! Yay me! It’s been a while. Progress has been going okay on Facing the Music. I’ve written 6544 words in 9 days. I missed a couple of days due to being exhausted (it’s that time of the year). And sometimes the night gets away from me and I squeeze in maybe ten minutes of writing immediately before bed and that has to do.

But today I took my laptop to work and through a series of short spurts on the bus and on my breaks, I managed 1500 words. So I’m going to keep trying this. I’ve got a few things to do around the house tonight but I’m going to see if I can even maybe reach 2000. It’s been a while since I wrote that much in a day. I can’t remember if I mentioned it last week, my aim is to reach 25k by the end of the month. Originally that worked out at 863 words a day (the 3rd was my first day), but with the couple of missed days it’s around 923. Still, a few more days like today should help.

For my first WIPpet with the new Facing the Music WIP, I have one paragraph (12 divided by 12). Ria has just learned that her mother found out about her psychic ability via her brother.

The punched in the gut feeling returned. I had warned Bobby that he was going to fall off his bicycle and break his arm. Mother hadn’t even been home. Bobby must have told her of my prediction after it came true. I’d never shared one of my visions before out of fear of my family’s reaction, but I thought Bobby would have kept my secret. Apparently I didn’t know my brother as well as I thought I did.

That’s it from me this week. I think I’m getting a virus, and I’m feeling drowsy already. I’ll head off and catch you all soon. 🙂

  1. Hmm… trust is an interesting thing in these cases. Did he tell because he wants to protect her, himself, the family… Why he told is, imho, far more important that the fact that he told. Things like this have a habit of getting out anyway… especially in fiction. 😉

  2. I feel you on this being an exhausting time of year, for many reasons.

Great snippet. I’m wondering if Ria is going to have words with Bobby for tattling. I also wonder what the consequences will be.
