Hello and welcome to WIPpet Wednesday, a blog hop wherein writers share an excerpt from their current WIP that somehow relates to the date. To join in, simply click the blue linky up there to the right.
So a quick plug first off. I have revitalised my Facebook author page and am posting there twice a week. If you would like to hear about what I’m reading and hear more about my writing projects, head on over to Emily Wrayburn and give it a like. I’m also on Instagram and quite a lot and I’m trying to post there twice a week as well, if that’s more your jam.
And now straight to the WIPpet this week as I don’t have that much to ramble about beforehand. Progress is going well on Unchanging Tunes. I’ve got about 4500 words written over the past two-three weeks. Given that’s about how much progress I made on Memories and Magic this whole year, I’d say that’s a win. I did some brainstorming last night and I think I have figured out who burned the circus down and/or killed Alex’s father! Now I’ve just got to figure out how the characters figure it out.
For my WIPPet this week, I have added the 1 and 3 of the date together and have four paragraphs. This is where Ria and Alex meet for the first time.
“I wondered if I might talk to you,” said a young man’s voice. “I have a proposition you might be interested in.”
I turned around, and came face to face a with a man not much older than I was. He blond hair was longer than was conventional, framing the top half of his face. He had sharp brown eyes. He was wearing a waistcoat that looked far too expensive to be owned by one of the pub’s usual patrons. There was even a watch chain extending from his pocket. I decided perhaps I ought to give him an audience.
“What can I do for you, Mr…?” I trailed off, waiting for him to introduce himself.
“Alexander Casyl,” he said, and extended a hand, which I shook. “You might have heard of my father, Jeremiah Casyl, founder of the Casyl and Co. Circus?”
How are you all doing?
P. S. If you’re interested, I still talk about what I’m reading over on my other blog every Wednesday. You can read today’s here.
